BLANKET FABRIC
or PLAINS:
Blanket fabric has a variety of historical uses. It is ideal for greatcoats, capes, waistcoats, work jackets, heavy petticoats and, of course, blankets.
Please keep in mind that working with hand woven fabric is very different than working with commercial fabrics. The weavers at Fiber Doodles recommend that hand woven fabric only be cut and manipulated by experienced seamstresses.

HOW TO ORDER BLANKET FABRIC:
Our non-fulled blanket fabric is approximately 32 inches wide. Fulled blanket fabric is approximately 30 inches wide.
When ordering blankets or blanket fabric, please be sure to specify the following:
Fulled* or Non-fulled**
Yardage for clothing? or blanket material?
Length of the fabric you desire (in 1 yard increments)
Half blanket (the width of the fabric...no seams)
Center seamed blanket (two halves hand sewn together)
If you have a specific project in mind and are not sure how much material you will need, please email us (dennis@yenzi.net) your questions and we will be glad to help you plan your project.
*Non-fulled fabric is washed, not agitated and air dried. The percentage of shrinkage is higher than fulled fabric.
**Fulled fabric is agitated when washed and air dried. It has a lower percentage of shrinkage since it was agitated when it was washed.
Felted wool fabric is agitated in warm or hot water, then rinsed in cold water. The shock of hot verses cold felts the wool. The end result is a very dense fabric.
Note: Hand woven fabrics handle differently than commercial fabrics. We are not responsible for any damage done to the hand woven fabric due to mishandling or inexperience. The weavers at Fiber Doodles recommend that you consult an experienced seamstress before you cut or manipulate any hand woven fabric.
