HISTORICALLY INSPIRED FABRICS:
The Historically Inspired fabrics from Fiber Doodles are designed and woven with the18th and 19th centuries in mind. They are not intended to be 100% reproductions of historically documented fabrics. We design and hand weave our fabrics based on historical weave structures, fiber types, colors, etc. (Click here to list reference sources for our research.)
18th and 19th century clothing textiles are generally narrower than modern day commercial fabrics. Our fabrics range from 27 inches to 30 inches wide when finished (washed) which is the perfect width for constructing historically based clothing patterns. When ordering yardage, keep in mind you will need more than if using commercial widths. Click here for tips on determining your yardage (coming soon) needs.
All of our fabrics are sold by the yard. They are finished (washed) prior to shipping. The weavers at Fiber Doodles recommend that you consult an experienced seamstress before cutting or manipulating any hand woven fabrics.
WEAVE STRUCTURES and FIBERS:
For information on our weave structures and finishing techniques click here. Most of our fabrics are plains or twill. The fabrics that we weave at Fiber Doodles are created using worsted wools, linens, and combinations of the two.

FABRIC CARE:
Wool fabrics can be hand washed or dry cleaned. For more information on the care and handling of hand woven fabric, click here.
*Note: Hand woven fabrics handle differently than commercial fabrics. We are not responsible for any damage done to the hand woven fabric due to mishandling or inexperience.
